This week, Tottenham host Newcastle to start things off with an intriguing side between European contenders, Brighton take on Arsenal as they try to end their seven-match winless run, and Manchester United head to Liverpool in the midst of their relegation battle.

Southampton are still looking for their second win of the season following their 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace. Brentford, meanwhile, are starting to drop down the table, having lost three of their last four EPL matches.

Despite the Bees’ form, we think they are close to a lock here. Southampton have not looked like an EPL team this season.  They have scored just 12 goals and have the worst expected goal differential in the league by a big margin.

Brighton picked up a well-earned point against Aston Villa last week, but the Seagulls are still winless in their last seven. Given Arsenal’s strong record, Brighton’s poor streak will probably continue this weekend.  

The Gunners have won each of their last four games and have scored 3+ goals in four of their last five matches away from home. They will likely win this weekend, but we think Both Teams To Score is a slightly safer bet.

Brighton have been shut out twice this season. The Seagulls have scored in all five of their losses across all competitions this season.

January 6, 3:30 AM, Anfield

After Liverpool’s massive 5-0 win against West Ham and Manchester United’s embarrassing 2-0 loss to Newcastle at home, many EPL predictions say the Reds will win this game convincingly. We agree with that sentiment, but a lot of people have gone a bit overboard.

Ruben Amorim got his tactics completely wrong against Newcastle and now Man Utd are in a relegation battle (his words, not ours). The Portuguese manager is sure to send out a much safer and balanced side than the one that played against the Magpies.

Liverpool will win this match, but it won’t be a 4 or 5 to nil route that many are predicting. Our Liverpool vs. Man Utd pick here is UNDER 3.5 Goals @ $1.77.
