This Thursday, Australian time, just under half of the teams in the NBA will take to the floor across seven different games. A number of intriguing matchups are included among that slate, with four of them yielding bookmaker lines of under five points which suggest there should be at least a couple of close ones across the course of the day. Below, we’ve sniffed out three bets which we think look like the best of the day.

Best Bets 2023 / 2024
Phoenix Suns @ Toronto Raptors
Suns -2.5 | $1.90 with PlayUp
After an indifferent start to the season, the supremely talented Phoenix Suns are finally beginning to live up to expectations, and that’s even without their big three having yet hit the floor together. They have now won seven games in a row led by Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, though the former is questionable for this game. If he does play, the line here looks really juicy, but even if he doesn’t the Suns are a great chance to cover it.Durant missed their last game in New York – a tough matchup for any team, and yet even with he and Beal absent, Devin Booker led them to a three-point win. This is a team with its tail well and truly up, and which is coming up against a Raptors outfit coming off two consecutive losses. If Durant plays the line here should be more than just 2.5 points, while if he doesn’t then it probably looks about right. With him looking like a roughly 50/50 shot, that makes this line pretty tempting.
Los Angeles Lakers @ Detroit Pistons
Lakers -7.5 | $1.89 with GetSetBet
The Lakers have overall been fairly solid so far this year, but they’ve got some bouncing back to do after a disastrous performance which saw them lose by 44 points to the 76ers in their latest outing. Fortunately, the team that they are coming up against has lost 14 consecutive games, so they should be pretty confidence in their ability to not just bounce back, but do so in resounding fashion. Though they have some nice young pieces on their roster, the Pistons have been an unmitigated disaster so far this season, compiling what is currently a league worst record of 2-15 and with many of those losses coming in heavy fashion. During that 14-game losing streak, just two of their losses have come by under 7.5 points, the line set for this game. In their last four games, three defeats have been by 19 points or more. That is a concerning stretch of form but one which should give punters plenty of faith in the Lakers’ ability to get over this line. This Lakers team is always subject to a lot of criticism – inevitable when you have LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the team, as well as the biggest fanbase in the league – but coming off a bad loss and coming up against what is currently the worst team in the league, they should be able to secure a double figure victory.
Los Angeles Clippers @ Sacramento Kings
Under 230.5 Total Match Points | $1.90 with BlueBet
The line for this game is set very high, but it really shouldn’t be. To an extent it’s understandable, largely because of the Kings’ typically rapid pace, but even they haven’t been particularly high scoring of late – notwithstanding their most recent game against the Warriors, which is taking place at the time of writing, their games have been right around this mark of late, with two of their previous three going under. The Clippers, meanwhile, are playing a slow pace with their new look team, and a pretty inefficient offence as well as some solid defence is also contributing to low scoring affairs. In fact, they have gone under this total eight times in row and ten of their last 11, and generally with ease. In those ten unders games the highest match total they’ve had is 223, while five have seen 208 points or less scored. They include low scoring matchups against high scoring teams, perhaps most notably a dour 195-point affair against the Mavericks, so against a Kings team which is only about mid-tier in terms of scoring at the minute, this game certainly looks likely to go under the 230.5 point total set by bookies.
