Best Multibet Tips of the Weekend | March 30th

We head to Rosehill on Saturday for our multibet which consists of a two-year-old, a New Zealand star and a sky-rocketing gelding for Ciaron Maher.

There is another excellent card at Rosehill on Saturday with eight Group races on the card, including a pair at the top level, the Tandred Stakes and the Vinery Stud Stakes. Two Group 2 contests and four Group 3s will provide plenty of backup quality as we take on the horse racing bookmakers during the afternoon.

Rosehill R3 #6 - Linebacker $1.95

This is an interesting contest with some promising two-year-olds on show. There might not be much between the selection and Anode on what they have shown so far. They have both gone from the front in their wins so the barrier draw could be all important to the outcome of the race. Linebacker has been lucky enough to gain the innermost barrier in one while his biggest rival has been allotted the 10 gate. Anode has to give three kilos to Linebacker and having to cross from wide hands a clear advantage to our tip.

Rosehill R7 #1 - Orchestral $1.60

The winner of five straight races, there is not a three-year-old in New Zealand that can touch her. She won the New Zealand Derby by almost four lengths on her most recent start where she was sent off a $1.30 favourite. Training duo Roger James and Robert Wellwood do incredibly well with fillies and mares and can improve on their already smart reputation with the fairer sex with another winner in Australia with Orchestral already the top of the futures market for the Oaks.

Rosehill R9 #17 - Another Wil $1.85

Has been the subject of a huge gamble this week, getting in as a reserve. He is taking a giant step forward with each run, winning all three of his starts this prep, and becoming more impressive with each start. His most recent success in a Flemington BM84 came by a margin of 4.5l which was visually spectacular and makes him look like he is well worth a step up to this sort of level, very much a Group class horse in the making. He gets the chance to prove that is the case now.

Stats and Insights

  • Rosehill is a galloping track of more than 2000m around with a run-in of over 400m.
  • James McDonald has a 28% strike rate at Rosehill this season. He gets the mount on Orchestral.
  • As with most tracks, an inside barrier is a help over most trips at Rosehill but especially in races over 1100-1300m.
  • 17 jockeys have ridden for John O’Shea this season, only Tommy Berry has a positive ROI. They team up with Linebacker.

The Autumn Carnival continues in Sydney at Rosehill where we have three shorties that all look to have outstanding chances of saluting during the Saturday card. We are almost into April when the Group 1 races will really start to ramp up.
