Multibets of the Week - Australian Open 2024

Many of the big favourites will be in action on Wednesday including the very short market favourite for the men’s singles title, Novak Djokovic! He will be taking on home player, Alexei Popyrin.

A bumper day of tennis at Melbourne Park with all courts in use before the schedule thins out at the back-end of the week. Plenty of Australians will be playing in the second round, however many of them are big underdogs - we look to spot if there is any value on their side.

Korda vs Halys, Men’s Singles

Korda -4.5 Games @ 1.75 with PlayUp

We were surprised to see Halys progress in the first round, he is far from his best and not the Halys we saw during the British summer last year. Korda is very solid at this current time and should comfortably cover a break of serve in each set.

Djokovic vs Popyrin, Men’s Singles

Over 29.5 Games@ 1.82 with PlayUp

We have gone early on the call that Popyrin may cause Djokovic some minor issues. He can of course be a little erratic which we have previously mentioned. We like him in this situation as a huge underdog and with a home crowd.

Kostyuk vs Mertens, Women’s Singles

Mertens To Win @ 1.63 with PlayUp

Mertens has had almost a bye in the first round with her opponent retiring. This ensures that she is fresh with plenty of confidence behind her after making the final in Hobart. Kostyuk needed 3 sets to beat Liu, who is a much easier match-up for her than Elise Mertens will be.

Multi Bet of the Weekend

Badosa vs Pavlyuchenkova, Women’s Singles

Pavlyuchenkova To Win @ 1.88 with PlayUp

Badosa had a very easy first round against Taylor Townsend, who was quite frankly very poor. Pavlyuchenkova has returned back to the tour in exceptional form and looks back to her best. She should cause trouble for the Spainard in this match.

Korneeva vs Haddad-Maia

Korneeva To Win @ 3.20 with PlayUp

The talents keep coming through for Russia, Korneeva has slightly gone under the radar compared to the likes of Andreeva. However, she could be better than her compatriot and at this price she will certainly be competitive.

Dolehide vs Gauff, Women’s Singles

Over 17.5 Games @ 1.92 with PlayUp

This line is very low and we agree it should be a two set victory for Gauff however, we are looking at Dolehide, who is much fitter at this stage of her career, nicking just 3 games or more in each set.

Multi Bet of the Weekend

Fritz vs Gaston, Men’s Singles

Gaston +6.5 Games @ 2.10 with Bet365

Gaston is a tricky lefty matchup for Taylor Fritz in the second round. He is a smart player who will look to use the advantage of the cross court forehand to Fritz’s backhand. Fritz also struggled unexpectedly vs Diaz Acosta in the 1st round.

Tiafoe vs Machac, Men’s Singles

Five Sets @ 3.00 with Bet365

We expect this match to go the distance with both players closely matched. Tiafoe has had some very tricky draws over the years in Melbourne, we think this is another tough matchup for Foe.

Ruusuvuori vs Medvedev, Men’s Singles

Medvedev 3-0  @ 1.66 with Bet365

Medvedev is by far the better player in this match as the moneyline reflects. His game is extremely solid and he does not give away much to opponents. This is the reason for him seeing very few issues with beating poorer opponents.

Multi Bet of the Weekend

Three solid, fairly priced multi bets for us this week. Lots of second round tennis will be crammed into the coming days. We will now be shifting our focus to the second week of the Australian Open where the cream slowly starts to rise to the top!
