Wan-Bissaka’s injury leaves Man United with few options left at full back ahead of their match against Aston Villa.

News Insights

  • Wan-Bissaka was injured in training this week.
  • Lisandro Martinez suffered an injury against West Ham.
  • Martinez will miss 8 weeks. Wan-Bissaka’s injury status is unknown.
  • Man United play Aston Villa on February 12 at 1:00am (AEDT).

Manchester United’s injury list got even longer this week after Lisandro Martinez and now Aaron Wan-Bissaka went down this week.

The extent of the Wan-Bissaka injury is unknown, but it’s likely that the fullback misses significant time with his injury. Man United have confirmed that Martinez will be out for at least eight weeks.

Martinez had just returned from a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a metatarsal injury earlier in the season.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka injury

Lisandro Martinez suffered his knee injury for the world to see against West Ham last week, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka suffered his behind closed doors.

According to Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag, the fullback went down with an injury during the club’s most recent training session.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was training today and then dropped out so I don’t know at the moment where he is, the diagnosis. Hopefully not too bad,” said the Dutchman.

Ten Hag didn’t go further into Wan-Bissaka’s injury status, but other reports claim he could miss multiple weeks of action for Man United, including their Matchweek 24 matchup against Aston Villa next week.

Man United injury list

Unfortunately for Man United fans, Wan-Bissaka and Martinez are not the only players who have been ruled out for the Aston Villa match.

The Man United injury list is currently five names long. In addition to Anthony Martial, Mason Mount, and Tyrell Malacia, are out in addition to Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Lisandro Martinez.

According to Ten Hag “Mason [Mount] and Ty [Malacia] are not ready.” Martial is out while recovering from a surgery he had to address a lingering groin issue.

Aston Villa vs. Manchester United preview

It’s never a good time to lose two of your most important defenders in the space of a week, but it’s especially bad when you are playing away at Aston Villa next.

The Villains are one of the best teams in the Premier League at home this season. The betting sites have them as slight favourites against Manchester United in Matchweek 24, but a recent spell of poor form have Aston Villa fans worried about their chances against the Red Devils.

Unlike Man United, Aston Villa are coming into this match relatively healthy. Emi Buendía and Tyrone Mings are still unavailable after suffering long-term injuries earlier in the season. As for players who have contributed regularly throughout the season, Ezri Konsa is the only doubt for the Man United match.
