Big Bash predictions
Adelaide Strikers are the fourth team to confirm their spot in the knockouts

Stars would have been eagerly watching this contest, in hope that Sydney Thunder will be victorious. However, their hopes were shattered… quickly

News Insights

  • Teams in knockouts are now confirmed.
  • Matt Short with another blistering performance
  • Strikers heading into play-offs with big confidence
  • Sydney Thunder likely to be wooden spoon holders

Strikers have now moved three points clear of Stars, who lie in fifth position, which all but confirms their place in the knockout phase. However, due to their position in the ladder, they will be unable to play at the Adelaide Oval which slightly decreases their chances with potential to be travelling to Perth.

Matt Short led by example as he extended his lead at the top of the run-scoring charts. He is now more than 200 runs clear of second best, demonstrating the sheer form that the Aussie batsman is in. Adelaide will be hoping that their skipper can continue this form to lead them through the final. He was partnered by Jake Weatherald who has found his way into the team, he has adopted an ultra-aggressive style of play - scoring 47* (31)!

Elsewhere, Lloyd Pope was second to none - taking 4-22 off his four overs. This was his best career figures and he narrowly missed out on a hat-trick which would have been just the 11th in Big Bash League history! Jamie Overton is also proving to be an excellent signing for the Strikers as he took 3 wickets for just 26 runs.
